Over the past week a blastly storm of winter’s cold has been felt by many local residents. Temperatures are plummeting into the negatives and single digits. And many people are wrapping up warm! - As it is predicted to be the coldest winter yet!
Many residents have been asked to keep homes warm and wrap up warm when going out. This is an obvious aftermath of the many devastating deaths of pensioners last year, across Britain, who were affected by the dramatic fall in temperature. This pre-warning is clearly a precaution to prevent such cases reoccurring. Cold temperatures are extremely detrimental to very young children, the elderly and those who suffer from chronic diseases.
Local resident in Chigwell says “Certainly is getting chilly, time to get the woolly coats out” –Indeed it is!
Harsh temperatures may though still have a treat for us. The question everyone is asking is could we be hoping for a white Christmas? Snowflake has fallen on Christmas day 38 times in the last 52 years. The last White Christmas that the UK had was in 2010- limited to some parts of the country.- Fingers are certainly crossed for a traditional blanket of snow on the 25th.
