A POLICEMAN has been cleared of racially abusing a colleague while on patrol.

A court heard that Met Police officer PC David Hair, 42, of Stewards Green Road in Epping, told a colleague he thought she was “going home to cook bananas” while in a police minibus in March.

But Westminster magistrates found him and his colleague PC Kevin Hughes, 36, of Cricketers Row, Herongate, not guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause another person harassment, alarm or distress.

They also ruled that any comments were not racially motivated.
