THE Allied Irish Bank has moved out of its offices in Wanstead High Street.
The early 18th century mansion building which housed the bank was once used as a Conservative club and is notable for the bust of Sir Winston Churchill that stands outside.
A sign in the window asks customers to contact the bank’s central London offices.
It is understood that the building’s landlord is seeking new tenants.
Neville Bamford of local chartered surveyors, Petty, Son & Prestwich, said: “It’s a splendid period building that has been refurbished to a very high standard.
“It would make a superb headquarters for a medium sized company.”
The Guardian is awaiting a comment from Allied Irish and the building’s owner.
