CHRISTMAS lights were switched on by the Mayor of Redbridge amid a chorus of carols.
The string of lights down Wanstead High Street were switched on by cllr Muhammed Javed on Friday, while pupils from Wanstead Church school sang a melody of Christmas carols.
The Salvation Army band also entertained crowds as they gathered to watch the switch on on George Green.
