A RESHUFFLE of Redbridge Council's cabinet has seen a councillor move from a post held for only 12 days to a new role.
Cllr Alex Wilson was appointed cabinet member for the Environment and Transportation following the resignation of Snaresbrook cllr Sue Nolan on November 23 from the cabinet for personal reasons.
Last night at a meeting of the cabinet he was moved to a newly created position of Planning and Public Protection.
Cllr Shoaib Patel who was cabinet member for Community Safety, Planning and Enforcement will move to the role of Environment and Transportation, but will continue to liaise with the police on behalf of the council.
Cllr Wilson said: "Highways and planning are the two things that I have always had an interest in.
"I'm absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to take on the new role. It is very exciting."
Cllr Wilson has only been a councillor in Wanstead for three years and this is the first time he has had a position in the cabinet.
For the mean time he will still sit on the Regional Planning West committee and Regulatory Committee.
He joins fellow Wanstead councillors Michelle Dunn (Housing) and Thomas Chan (Regeneration and Property) in the cabinet.
More to follow.
