A PRIMARY school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for improving standards.
The Clore Tikva School in Fullwell Avenue, Barkingside, which has 445 pupils, was rated Good by inspectors who visited in November.
A previous inspection in 2010 rated the school as satisfactory.
Inspectors said improvements in the quality of teaching since their last inspection had led to improved standards.
They noted that more than half of pupils reach standards in English and maths that are a year ahead of 11-year-olds nationally.
And they praised the strong teamwork between teachers and the governing body at the school.
Inspectors said that more needed to be done to encourage pupils to work independently.
But they noted that an improved focus on setting targets for teachers had led to raised standards for pupils.
