EPPING Forest MP Eleanor Laing leant her support to the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, at an event in Westminster.

The Dogs Trust was attempting to highlight its annual Twelve Strays of Christmas campaign, which cautions against giving dogs as Christmas presents.

Mrs Laing said: “My young son sponsors a dog called Shane who lives at the Dogs Trust home near London.

“We went to visit him a few months ago and I was very impressed by the marvellous work the Trust does.

“It is also very nice for a child who can’t have a dog himself to have a special relationship with one that he sponsors.”
