A NEWLY-FORMED academy school could expand by moving some classes to a council site.
Waltham Forest Council is to consider leasing land at its Chestnuts House site in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, to Barclay Academy for 125 years.
Barclay Primary School in Canterbury Road, Leyton, became an academy in September.
The authority is expected to make a decision to allow the go-ahead of the plan in January 2013.
The council launched a consultation with both Barclay and Henry Maynard Primary in Walthamstow back in June to decide which school should expand to the site.
A council spokesman said Henry Maynard rejected the proposals.
A consultation will be held over the expansion if it is approved.
Academy schools receive their funding direct from the government giving them independence from local councils.
