Young singers took part in a Europe-wide sing-along to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gospel choir in the world.

Children and young people from Waltham Forest Theatretrain, a dancing, acting and singing group, joined the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) on Sunday to sing ‘O Happy Day’ at the Royal Festival Hall.

The kids helped beat the current world record held in Germany at 1,138 people with a choir of around 2,000 as well as special guest appearances from the likes of soul legend Jocelyn Brown to mark LCGC's 30th anniversary.

Elly Pharoah, Centre Director of Theatretrain Waltham Forest said: “Everyone involved has been amazing and it’s been a fantastic experience, we’re really grateful to have been a part of it and huge thanks goes to our singing teacher Daine Dyer for involving us.  We also appeared with the choirs on BBC1’s The One Show on Friday which was incredible and the children can now say they are record breakers – it doesn’t get much better.”

Theatretrain Waltham Forest are now busy working towards their next show, ‘20@O2’ on Sunday 14th July  at The O2, to celebrate Theatretrain’s 20th birthday.
