A 29-year-old man is fighting for his life after an assault last night.
Police were called to Lamorna Close, near to the junction with Hale End Road, Walthamstow, at about 10.25pm.
The victim suffered critical head injuries and was taken to hospital.
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
The road was closed around the junction with Lamorna Close, and buses are currently on diversion.
A police spokeswoman said: "We aim to minimise disruption and get the road open as quickly as possible."
