Transatlantic folk-roots duo Hickman and Cassidy headline Loughton Folk Club this Thursday (May 9).

The combination of Hickman's English witty homeliness with Cassidy's dry humour and American drawl has helped this pair make a name for themselves on the folk scene.

Entrance is £6 and doors open around 8pm.

It's at the Loughton Club in Station Road.

Good-time pub rockers Graham Larkbey and the Escape Committee play Ye Olde Rose and Crown in Walthamstow on Saturday night (May 11).

The show is free and will get going from around 8.30pm.

Singer-songwriter George Papavgeris, who plays songs championing everyday heroes, performs at the same venue on Sunday (May 12).

He's the guest of Walthamstow Folk Club and tickets cost £7, or £5 for concessions.

The Loughton Acoustic Club 'Stand and Deliver' holds a sessions on the second Tuesday of every month, which just so happens to be this upcoming Tuesday! (May 14).

It's at the Gardeners Arms in York Hill, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Entry is £3.

For something a bit different, check out the East Side Jazz Club in Leytonstone on Tuesday (May 14).

The line-up this time includes Christian Brewer on the alto sax and John Critchinson on piano.

The club takes place in the Crown pub in Leytonstone High Road.

Admission is £5 from 8.30pm.

Essex boy and festival favourite Martin Young is doing a show at Waltham Abbey Folk Club on Monday (May 13).

Entry is £5 and it takes place at the Royal British Legion building in Brooker Road. Doors at 8.30pm.

The Ladyskillers headline the Square in Harlow on Friday (May 10).
