Police at the scene by the white van involved
A man arrested by police in High Street, Wanstead this morning is an armed robbery suspect, police have confirmed.
Witnesseses say they saw armed police stop a white van driving along High Street this morning, smash the windows and drag a man out.
There were reports of gunshots being fired, but police have denied any firearms were used.
A spokesman for the Met said: "This was a Flying Squad operation in relation to an armed robbery suspect."
A Securicor van at the scene close to Tesco's is now believed not to have been involved in the incident.
