Wanstead High Street has now reopened following its earlier closure when a man was arrested as part of an armed robbery operation.
The man, aged in his 30s, was seized by armed police at around 9am and part of the busy shopping street was closed off by officers for the rest of the morning.
It happened close to Wanstead Pharmacy.
There are no reports of any injuries but police confirmed they shot 'Hatton' rounds to disable a van that the robbery suspect was driving.
