Children at a Barkingside school got to hold a Paralympic torch at a visit from an inspirational torch bearer.
Arun Patel, who set up the charity Polio Children, was at Avanti Court Primary School in Carlton Drive to talk to the children about his experience carrying the torch and his battle to overcome polio.
Mr Patel shared pictures and videos of children in India who have polio but still participate in sports.
He carried the flame through Regents Park last year.
Avanti Court teacher Trish Johnson said of Mr Patel: “With an inspirational attitude he survived polio, set up a charity, started and sold a successful business all of which required immense courage.
“Avanti pupils were amazed by Mr Patel and were excited by holding the Olympic torch.”
