A police chief has had to temporarily give up his post after he was involved in a car accident.
Chief Inspector Ed Wells, the neighbourhood policing chief for Epping Forest and Brentwood, is currently unable to work in his role as a result of his injuries.
A Spokesman for the police said: “Chief Inspector Tracey Harman has temporarily taken over the reins as Epping District Commander after Chief Inspector Ed Wells was involved in a car accident.
“Mr Wells is continuing to work in the district and is being supported by Mrs Harman for the next few months whilst he recovers.”
Chief Inspector Wells who cannot fulfil his role due to his injuries was not on duty when the accident happened.
Police are unsure of when he will be able to return to the position.
