A report has come in of a mini twister interrupting play at a cricket match.
The whirlwind hit the game between Epping Foresters and Saffron Walden at Bell Common near Epping at about 11.30am on Monday.
Debbie Ellis, who was watching the match, said: “It was very funny watching the under nines on the pitch as all the boundary cones started to take off.
“Then all the Colts were swaying with their caps taken from their heads.
“The cones and hats were spinning at least 20 feet above them.
“All the parents and coaches could see the funny side until the twister hit the spectators, lifting the score table, chairs and kit bags, which were thrown into the car park and training nets.
“It was quite concerning at that point. Thankfully, there were no injuries.”
She said three chairs had been broken by the whirlwind.
