A young man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted.
The 29-year-old is in a critical but stable condition after suffering head injuries late on Monday night at the junction of Lamorna Close and Hale End Road in Walthamstow.
Roger Kent, 52, of Lamorna Close, appeared at Thames Magistrates Court yesterday charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Kent pleaded not guilty at Thames Magistrates Court last Wednesday and will remain in police custody until June 5, when he will return to court for a committal hearing to find out whether and when a jury trial will take place.
Neighbours believe the 29-year-old lives with his family in a block of flats just off Lamorna Close.
Residents expressed their shock at the incident yesterday and one called for security cameras to discourage future incidents.
