Three groups picked up public funding at a town’s annual meeting last night.

Waltham Abbey’s branch of Cruse Bereavement Care and the organisers of King Harold Day, which marks its 10th anniversary in October, were each given £375 by Waltham Abbey Town Council.

The Waltham Abbey Neighbourhood Action Panel, which aims to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, was awarded £250.

Town councillor Antony Watts said there was still money put aside by the town council for good causes and encouraged groups to put in applications to claim it.

He added: "We still have just over £2,000 in the pot, so if you know of a charitable cause we should be supporting, let us know.

"There are also two minibuses available for community use."
