A local restaurateur and chef last week had his restaurant selected to be a partner of the second national Caribbean Food Week.
Delroy Dixon, from Walthamstow, who runs Rhythm Kitchen, studied at Waltham Forest College for two years before becoming a chef and has now beat out other established Caribbean restaurants to become a partner of the Week which runs from August 19-25.
The partnership sees Rhythm Kitchen join forces with a top chef from Trinidad, Hasan De Four, to launch a campaign to actively encourage customers to add some Caribbean flavour to their daily lives.
The campaign will feature a summer of outdoor events, nationwide sampling, new product launches as well as recipes and online tutorials – all in time for Notting Hill carnival.
Del uses local suppliers and employs a local workforce to create the dishes his mother taught him how to cook.
Del said he wants to inspire people to follow their ambitions.
He added: ““Rhythm Kitchen is proud to be a part of Caribbean Food Week 2013.
“It’s a great way of motivating the general public to experiment with and enjoy the diversity of Caribbean food – everyone ought to try it at least once.
“For far too long Caribbean food has been unloved by the masses, so we want to spread the love around.”
Rhythm Kitchen has served thousands from its base in Westfield Stratford City since 2011, including celebrity Nicole Sherzinger.
