Thousands of pounds have been awarded to the district council to give people with disabilities access to one of the nation’s favourite games.

The Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity, has announced that they will hand £5,000 to Epping Forest District Council after it was found that not enough is done to provide access to football for less able people in the district.

Olivia Worsfold, Disability Inclusion Officer, said: “Having identified that there was a gap in provision in the sport for people with disabilities, this funding will allow us to work with local clubs to help them develop sessions that cater for people with disabilities.”

After securing the grant EFDC will now be able to pay for better training and equipment.
