A team of brainy youngsters will travel to Cambridge next week to compete in a quiz championship.
The children from Churchfields Junior School in South Woodford made it to the finals of the National Inter-School Quiz Championship after seeing off 11 other schools at local level and another 11 at a regional heat in Chelmsford.
They will now take on teams from across the country at the final in Oxford on May 21.
More than 200,000 children have taken part in the competition nationally, answering multiple choice questions in a bid to become quiz champions.
The Churchfields Junior School team is made up of Max Jones (11), Lucie Hatley (10), Finlay O’Riordan (8) and Mirha Faisal (8).
At one point during the semi-finals in Chelmsford the youngsters were trailing in fifth place, but a late burst of correct answers saw them win the regional heat.
Max said: “I felt really sad when I thought we were going to lose.”
Finlay added: “We are a team and we all worked together.”
