A farm has its own Bambi after one of its reindeer gave birth.
The female fawn at Lee Valley Park farm in Waltham Abbey needed the care of the vet when its mother Jaska went into labour last week.
Duty manager Kate Chaplin said: “After a rocky start and some veterinary help, the baby was born and received loving attention from her mum while we carefully looked after both of them.
“The baby showed that she was a fighter as she gained in strength and took her first steps at one day old; it usually only takes an hour before they’re up and about.
“Jaska and her baby girl are now doing fantastically well and will soon come out to join the rest of the herd.”
The fawn is the latest addition to the Stubbins Hall Lane farm’s stock, which also includes meerkats, lambs and racing piglets.
