The first in a series of informal drop-in sessions exploring the history of Wanstead Park was held at the weekend.
Around 30 people came to the 'Tea at the Temple' event on Sunday which featured an exhibition of old photos of the park, with visitors encouraged to share their memories of the scenic spot.
They included Pete Saunders, of the Wren Wildlife and Conservation Group, who brought along his large collection of Victorian and Edwardian postcards of the area.
The event, at the Temple building in the park, was jointly organised by the Friends of Wanstead Parklands and the City of London Corporation.
The next in the series is entitled "The Changing Face of Wanstead Park", and will look at how the landscape has been changed and altered over time by both humans and the forces of nature.
It takes place in the same location on June 9 between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
The final event in the series is on July 28 for an hour starting at 1.30pm and is called "Back Garden Finds".
Timed to coincide with the Festival of British Archaeology, the event will give residents the chance to bring along interesting finds from their gardens and look at artefacts that have been found in the park.
