A man arrested on suspicion of false representation as a fraud scam sweeps the district has been released without charge.
The 53-year-old from Walthamstow was arrested in April after tens of vulnerable adults were tricked into handing over bank details to bogus policemen.
Since the beginning of the year almost 40 people have been targeted, mainly in Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell and Loughton by con men pretending to be the police.
Various tales have been told over the phone to trick victims into handing over their bank details and even cards in some cases.
However, after two recent attempts in Harlow police say that the public are now being vigilant, something which they wish to continue.
On Tuesday, this week, two women both refused to hand over details after becoming suspicious of the men.
Police are still asking people to be vigilant and remind elderly family members that the police will never ask for bank details over the phone.
Anyone with information about the thieves or anyone who has been approached by suspected fraudsters should contact Essex Police on 101.
