A new parish council chairman has promised to work tirelessly for the town which he represents after he was elected, last night.

Aniket Patel took over the role as Buckhurst Hill’s Parish Council Chairman after Gavin Chambers’ year in the role came to a close.

After receiving his chain of office, Mr Patel said that he has a high standard to live up to.

He said: “Being chairman is not just about being the public face of the council, it's working hard behind the scenes to ensure the smooth working of the council."

He added Mr Chambers "had set the level of chairmanship extremely high".
 
Councillor Hale Wheeler was elected as council vice-chairman.
