Shoppers can now be guaranteed their meat is 100% British as a local retailer shifts to stock only meat from Great Britain.
As of yesterday the owners of Budgens in Station Road, Chingford, have moved towards British produce for its own-brand meat and poultry.
All SuperValu beef, chicken, turkey, pork and lamb from the store is now fully British and Red Tractor approved – at no extra cost to the shopper.
Store owners Paul and Michelle Gravelle said: “We’re happy that our customers will feel reassured as they feed their families each evening, knowing their meat and poultry is 100% British.”
David Clarke, CEO of Red Tractor, said: “It has arguably never been more important to reassure customers about where their food comes from.”
He added that food holding the Red Tractor logo meets responsible production standards and is traceable from farms to pack.
