A record level of council tax was collected in the last financial year.
Figures show Redbridge Council received 96.28 per cent of what it was owed in the 12 months up to April, compared to 96.19 per cent during the same period the previous year.
Cabinet member for resources, councillor Ian Bond, said: “Over recent years we have invested in better income collection, and these figures show the benefit.”
A council spokesman added outstanding debts would be pursued “where practicable” and said there had also been an increase in collection of business rates.
