A bid to demolish office buildings and replace them with a block of flats has been refused planning permission.
Applicants F.A Lane and Son wanted to knock down the Larkswood Works site, at 60 Larkshall Road in Chingford, and build a block up to four storeys tall with nine flats in its place.
But officers from Waltham Forest Council rejected the bid this week on the grounds that the development would be out of keeping with the surrounding area.
They also raised concern about the quality of the proposed building for future occupiers and said the application failed to make adequate provision for safe and secure pedestrian access.
