A primary school is no longer failing but still requires improvement, according to Ofsted.
Inspectors who visited Thomas Gamuel School in Colchester Road, Walthamstow, said it was improving but that teaching was not yet consistently good enough.
The school was placed in special measures after a previous inspection last April, largely due to concerns that safeguarding paperwork had not been kept up-to-date.
Since then an interim board has been appointed to help run the school.
Despite criticism of the progress made by pupils and the quality of teaching, Ofsted said in its report published this week that children at the school behaved well.
