Forest YMCA in Walthamstow has announced it is to hold an award ceremony to celebrate the achievements of residents on its in-house work-based programme.
The ceremony is to honour those on its PACE (Practical Achievements in Creating Employment) programme, which is designed to develop vulnerable and homeless young adults aged between 16 and 30.
Those who take part are given help and support with building their confidence and skills before hopefully moving on to employment, further training or education.
More than 170 have already taken part and the YMCA says on average that 60 per cent of those progress on to further training or employment.
Timothy Pain, Forest YMCA’S Chief Executive, said: "Through PACE, our young people realise their true potential and are motivated to aim higher.
"We are really proud of their achievements and the progress that they have made. The PACE awards will highlight the value of their achievements and celebrate their successes.”
The award ceremony is due to take place on Tuesday July 9.
A spokesman added: "FYMCA hopes to roll out the PACE programme to other organisations and looking for businesses and organisations to partner with to increase work related opportunities for homeless young individuals who have major barriers to employment in the UK.
"For more information on PACE, contact Ndidi Ansah on 020 3598 1539 or email ndidi@forestymca.org.uk".
