A man is to appear in court today charged with fraud offences after he attempted to trick staff in a Natwest Bank.
Leomidas Syrus, 28, tried to open a bank account using false identification in the Epping High Street branch, last Friday.
Staff called the police shortly before 1.30pm when the documents which he presented to them aroused suspicion.
A spokesman for the police said: “A man from East London is due to appear in court today after having been charged with various fraud offences in Epping.
“He has been charged with one count of being in possession fraudulent utility bills, one count of falsely representing himself in order to open a bank account and one count of being in possession of a false identity card.
“The 28-year-old unemployed man of Sixth Avenue, Manor Park, was detained in police custody prior to his appearance at Chelmsfords Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 20.”
