The highly-successful film Calendar Girls was the theme for the May meeting of the Ongar Flower Club at the Zinc Arts Centre in High Street.
Demonstrator Fiona Frank-lin demonstrated arrangements of five of the flower references contained within the hit movie, which starred Helen Mirren and Julie Walters.
Group member Jennifer Stone said: “Think Women’s Institute and everything wholesome comes to mind.
“That made Fiona’s idea of home-grown produce depicted in a contemporary red, white and blue arrangement particularly apt.
“The final design represented those brave ladies in the film who bared all in the name of charity and used cakes and buns to protect their modesty.
“And the container Fiona used was a beautiful female torso, naturally, complete with lovely flowing lines of flowers and foliage.”
The club’s next meeting in at 7.30pm on June 4, when the theme will be ‘Images of Nature’ by Joyce Furssedonn.
Admission costs £4 for visitors. More details are available on 01277 365 830.
