Weekly local music gigs round-up

This three piece are an offshoot/side-project thingy of the band Crownstreet.

They perform folk songs and instrumentals on a variety of instruments and are joined at this gig by singer-guitarist Phil Lyons.

Entry is £5 and doors, at the Loughton Club in Station Road, open at 8pm.

The Alvin Burrell Quintet play their début gig north of the river Thames this Thursday (May 23) in Walthamstow.

This five-piece jazz act have a varied repertoire of pieces ranging from old school to modern in style.

The show, which is free, takes place at Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub in Hoe Street and starts around 9pm.

Rock band Graham Larkbey and the Escape Committee headline the Redbridge Green Fair Live Music Club this Friday night (May 24).

Support comes from the talented and versatile folk and traditional song master Russ Chandler and duo Darklights.

Admission is £4, or £2 for under 18s.

It takes place at Ilford Sports Club in Cricklefield Stadium off Ilford High Road, with doors swinging open at around 8pm.

The Clive Fenner Quartet are holding a concert at the East Side Jazz Club next Tuesday (May 28).

The jazz group includes Martin Hathaway on the saxophone and Mr Fenner himself on the drums.

Admission is £5 and it's at the Crown pub in Leytonstone High Road.

Doors from 8.30pm.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club has a singaround jam night on Monday (May 27).

It costs £2 and starts at 8.30pm at the Royal British Legion building in Brooker Road.

Rock act Sisterray headline the Plough and Harrow pub in Leytonstone High Road this Friday night (May 24).

Support comes from The Young and Naked, Whisky Bride and Crime Scene.

The show, put on by Another Winter Productions, costs £5 entry.

On Saturday the same venue hosts performances by Jonathan Holder, Redstar Lokomotiv, Yassassin, Electric Blue and Howard and the Leaves.

The gig is a fund-raiser for the Leytonstone Festival and costs £4 per person.
