More than a thousand children are competing to represent Waltham Forest in the London Youth Games.
Nearly 1,200 pupils from schools across the borough are taking part in a variety of sporting events at Waltham Forest Pool & Track in Chingford Road, Walthamstow.
A total of 33 primary schools are being represented at the site as teams of eight children sprint, long jump, run relay races and perform long-distance throws in the Quad Kids English Athletics Competition.
The best scoring teams from four year groups will win the chance to represent the borough at the London Youth Games in Crystal Palace on Thursday, July 4.
The Quad Kids competition started yesterday and continues until Thursday, when the winners will be announced.
Tanya Irvine, sports event organiser for Waltham Forest schools, said: "The kids are having a great time. It's been really good so far.
"The good thing is that the kids have a go at everything and they support each other. Cheering on your teammate could help them make the difference between third, second and first.
"It's about teamwork and learning to help each other out."
