Building tools worth almost £4,000 were stolen from a workman's van.
It happened sometime between 10pm on Sunday and 6.30am on Monday morning in Otley Drive, Gants Hill.
Police say someone broke into the man's LDX Maxus Van and stole items including a petrol powered concrete saw, two Plaslo nail guns, a Kango breaker, two SDS Bosh hand drills, a skill saw and a fern multi-tool kit.
Other tools stolen were two cordless drills - one Panasonic and the other of the Bosch brand - and a Dewalt SDS drill.
The total value of the goods is estimated at £3,950.
A Met spokesman said: "Anyone with information regarding these tools are asked to contact ADS Tony Bowles of Ilford CID on 0208 345 2679".
According to the latest police figures, motor vehicle crime in Redbridge is down from 4,260 reported cases in the 12 months to April 2012 compared with 3,876 in the 12 months to April 2013.
