The head teacher of a school that has gone from outstanding to good in its latest Ofsted report says he will appeal.

Christian Cavanagh, head of Debden Park High School in Willingale Road, Loughton, said he would challenge the inspectors over the findings of the report, published today.

He said: “The report was very positive. It says, for example, that the teaching is good and largely outstanding and that normally indicates that the school is outstanding.

“I’m questioning the judgement, which is quite common, and until the process has been followed it’s quite difficult to say anything.”
