Police found eight "high value" stolen mobile phones worth around £90,000 when they investigated a burglary at a house.

Officers were called to Eastwood Road in Goodmayes when the owner of the property reported a break-in.

But when police arrived at the home they found the phones inside and the owner was unable to explain why they were there.

A 42-year-old woman and 41-year-old man were subsequently arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

It happened on Thursday at 2pm but police have only released details today.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Lemon, of Redbridge Police, said: "Early indications are that each phone is valued at approximately £10,000 to £12,000 and we would like to return them to their owners".

A Met spokesman added that anyone who might be able to identify the owners of the stolen phones should contact Detective Sergeant Matt Day at Ilford CID on 020 8345 2610.
