A church backed group set up to help migrants will have its official launch next month.
The Walthamstow Migrants’ Action Group has been set up with the backing of Saint Barnabas Church in Saint Barnabas Road and St Saviour’s Church in Markhouse Road.
An evening of live music, poetry, dance and discussion has been planned to mark the occasion.
Speakers from groups including Migrant Voice and Unite Against Fascism will attend the event at Harmony Hall in Truro Road, Walthamstow, on June 22.
Father Salvador Telen of St Saviour's Church said: “We have a lot of people who come to us asking for advice.
“They don’t know the law and we try to provide help by putting them in touch with lawyers and solicitors.
“We also try to provide advice on issues such as health. The group is really a way to promote that work and we hope members of the community will come to support it.”
The ‘Celebrating Migration’ evening starts at 6.15pm. Admission is free.
