A Chingford teenager is due to appear in court today charged with common assault and possession of cannabis.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces charges of racially or religiously aggravated common assault or beating and possession of the Class B drug cannabis.

The teenager is said to have assaulted a man in Loughton on May 13.

A 17-year-old girl, also from Chingford, will appear alongside him at Chelmsford Magistrates Court charged with racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress through words or writing against the same man in Loughton.
