FOOD glorious food. Thirty days of food and art will come to Walthamstow on Saturday, as Appetite Food Festival commences.
With celebrity chef Gennaro Contaldo opening proceedings, organisers are promising food lovers everywhere a chance to enjoy great dining in the borough.
“It’s an amazingly packed programme of diverse events,” says Laura Kerry of Artillery, organisers of the event. “There’s something for everyone, ranging from a Tudor feast, pop-up poetry café, fairytale tea parties, edible bugs, real ale festival, gourmet food fair, food walks and a food trail.
“Appetite has shown us that the marriage of food and art is naturally complementary; artists, chefs and food makers of all kinds are collaborating to create wonderful eating experiences.”
Appetite has created an opportunity for food makers to showcase their products and services to the public, testing new ideas and business models.
Organisations are also hosting creative and thought-provoking events to raise awareness and gain support for a number of community food initiatives.
