A temporary traffic light has, itself, stopped working, causing delays of 40 minutes for motorists leaving Epping this evening.
The light on High Road, at the Bell Common junction with Theydon Road, has stuck on red, and is being jumped by frustrated drivers heading south on the B1393.
Engineers from Essex County Council have visited the site five times since the original light stopped working earlier this month.
The temporary replacement was fitted earlier this week, but a number of drivers have told the Guardian that traffic flow improved with no light there at all.
