A man accused of leaving another man fighting for his life in hospital following an assault is to appear before magistrates today.
Roger Kent, 52, of Lamorna Close in Walthamstow, has pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and will today find out whether he will face a jury trial.
The news comes after a 29-year-old man was left in a critical condition with a head injury in hospital following an assault at the junction of Lamorna Close and Hale End Road on Monday, May 6.
Neighbours said the man lives with his family in a block of flats just off Lamorna Close, and claimed his injury was a result of an argument that got out of hand.
Residents have expressed their shock at the incident and one called for security cameras to discourage future incidents.
Kent is due to appear at Thames Magistrates Court later this morning.
The Guardian is awaiting the latest condition update on the 29-year-old, who was last in a critical but stable condition.
