Armed police surrounded a Chingford home before arresting a man after reports that someone had been firing an airgun.
A 28-year-old man was arrested by officers at an address in Middleton Avenue, Chingford, at about 5.20pm on Saturday.
Police had been called to reports that he had been firing the gun in the garden, and responded with a squad of armed officers who entered the house, with support from a police helicopter overhead.
The Guardian understands the airgun exceeded the legal “muzzle-energy limit” on such weapons, meaning it was powerful enough to penetrate skin.
Police have not yet confirmed what the man was arrested on suspicion of.
More to follow.
