More than £12,000 was raised for the district’s hospice with a charity golf tournament.
The money from the event, which was organised by the Rotary Club of Epping, will go towards the running of St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood, which must fundraise for most of its costs.
A team from Hadham Engineering won the tournament, which was held at Saffron Walden golf course and retired England footballer Teddy Sheringham played a round for legal firm Attwaters Jameson Hill.
The Rotary club’s team was led by Peter Hellmers, owner of Lathams Home in Epping High Street, who has recently returned from a coast to coast walk in aid of breast and prostate cancer research.
Host Geoff Woollerson said: “We are always so grateful to the companies who sponsor us, the golfers who support us, and the golf club for continuing to maintain such a wonderful venue for this event.
“St Clare Hospice is well deserved of the monies raised, giving such wonderful palliative care to patients.”
