Carers Week is next week and in conjunction with this an event will take place on Wednesday from 11am to 3pm at Priory Community Centre.

The event, at 11 Priory Court, South Countess Road, Walthamstow, will focus on carers’ health, offering advice and information along with yoga and massage sessions.

The aim is to ensure carers stay fit and healthy while caring for their loved ones.

Cllr Angie Bean, Waltham Forest Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Older People, said: “While carers do what they do out of a sense of love and duty, we should never forget the sheer graft and determination it takes for them.

“I know times are tough for local families right now and even more so for those caring for an ill or disabled family member.

“If you’re a carer who’s finding it difficult to cope financially, physically or emotionally then either the Council or Waltham Forest Carers Association might be able to help, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch."

Carers weeks is a national awareness-raising campaign that seeks to shine a spotlight on the role of carers and help ensure they access the help, support and advice that they are entitled to.
