A brass band will climb three of the UK's highest mountains in just 24 hours complete with all their instruments this weekend.
Over 100k of brass will be lugged up the peaks by 10 members of the East London Brass band, who rehearse in Oxford Road, Walthamstow, to raise money for the MS Society.
These 10 players will join a band of 20 other musicians from all over the country to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the highest muntains in England, Scotland and Wales withn 24 hours.
They will start by heading up Ben Nevis in Scotland at 3pm on Saturday, then travel by minibus to the Lake District to climb Scafell Pike, before heading on to Snowdon on Sunday afternoon.
When they reach the top of each mountain, they are going to play that country's national song: Flower of Scotland at the summit of Ben Nevis, Jerusalem on Scafell Pike and Land of my Fathers on Snowdon.
The tuba players have the hardest job, with their instruments weighing 12kg each.
Band members have been on several practice hikes to get in training as it is thought this is the first time a brass band has attempted to climb the three peaks with all their gear in tow.
