Three drunken stockbrokers could have a killed a helpless clubber as they repeatedly kicked him during an attack, a judge said.

Faisal Khan, 22, of Roding Lane North in Woodford Green, and Archie Madden, 21, of Fiddlers Hamlet in Epping Forest, joined two others in attacking Edward Blackman outside Mayfair’s exclusive Rose Club on February 2.

The men had been harassing Mr Blackman’s Norwegian girlfriend, Southwark Crown Court heard.

When he asked them to stop, the men chased him from the club, pushed him to the ground and repeatedly kicked him.

The 24-year-old healthcare recruiter from St Albans, Hertfordshire, was found badly bleeding in the street and rushed to hospital.

His injuries included a broken nose, black eyes and bruises. The judge said only good fortune saved further serious injury.

Madden was jailed for 60 weeks after admitting actual bodily harm, while Khan, who started the attack by throwing punches, admitted common assault and was ordered to carry out 150 hours of community work.

Fellow attacker Vinny Sullivan, 22, of Beccles Drive in Barking, was jailed for 10 months.

Simon Abouzaki, 30, of Forum Magnum Square in Waterloo, who had previously received a bravey award for defending a girl who was being attacked, was jailed for 18 months after a previous suspended sentence for possessing MDMA was activated.

Addressing the group, Judge Alistair Mcreath said: “I have been in criminal law for many, many years and over those years I have dealt with cases of murder where the attack on the deceased person is far, far less serious than the attack you perpetrated on Mr Blackman.”

He added that CCTV footage showed the group’s intention was to cause Mr Blackman much greater harm than they did.

Speaking after the men were sentenced Mr Blackman said he was left traumatised after the attack.

“It’s amazing that these people are trusted to manage large accounts - what checks are in place? They hopefully will not be allowed back into that industry,” he added
