Teachers and union members have announced the details of strike action across Waltham Forest tomorrow.

Three picket lines will be set up and those marching in London will gather beforehand in central Walthamstow.

Members of England’s two largest teachers unions, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT), are walking off the job tomorrow across London in a row with the government over pay, pensions and working conditions.

Picket lines will be set up before 9am at Leyton Sixth Form College in Essex Road, Kelmscott School in Markhouse Road, Walthamstow, and Frederick Bremer Secondary School in Siddeley Road, Walthamstow.

Over half of schools in the borough are set to close, while many more will only open partially.

In total 75 per cent are likely to be affected.

Prior to joining marching in central London teachers and union members are meeting at Walthamstow Town Square between 9 and 9.45am.

The government has voiced disapproval over the strike, saying it will disrupt learning and damage the reputation of teachers.
