Three London mayors attended a charity tapas and live music event last night.
Cllr Paul Canal organised the evening in support of Redbridge Mayor Felicity Banks’ charity of the year, Hopes and Dreams, a charity for terminally ill children, at Dama De Elche, in Cambridge Park, Wanstead.
Cllr Banks was in attendance, as well as Medway Mayor Mrs Josie Iles and Waltham Forest Mayor Nadeem Ali.
He said: “The evening was a massive success and went on until the early hours.
“We raised over £1,000 from ticket sales, a raffle and Barclays Bank, who pledged to match every penny raised.
“Hopes and Dreams were great to support as they help families through what would normally be a terrible journey - enabling them to meet their favourite footballer or celebrity for example – and they don’t take a penny for it.
“Singer songwriter Mick Terry put on a brilliant show for free and by the end of the evening everyone was singing along with him.
“As a thank-you, I bought him a mug with a print of his face on it, which he will be adding to his collection.”
