Fire service suggests takeaways during strike
The fire service is advising residents to treat themselves to a takeaway during strike action on Saturday evening.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service say a third of all house fires start in the kitchen, so is suggesting households could order food in during a five-hour walk-out by firefighters over changes to pensions.
the strike is scheduled to begin at 6.30pm.
Fire crews will still attend emergency incidents and people should call 999 as normal.
